Assessment and selection practices may differ based on the needs of the sponsoring organisations. Besides interviews, shortlisted applicants may be required by some sponsoring organisations to write responses to essay question(s) prior to/after the interview or complete certain tests. You will receive more information when the sponsoring organisations contact you during the shortlisting process.
If you have been successfully shortlisted, you will be contacted by the sponsoring organisation to participate in their selection process. Successfully selected applicants will receive a scholarship offer letter from the sponsoring organisation.
You may be invited to participate in the selection processes of more than one sponsoring organisation, based on your indicated choices in the online application form. If you are successfully offered the scholarship, the sponsoring organisation will send you a scholarship offer letter.
Applicants may choose between offers. However, applicants can accept only one offer by the deadline indicated in the scholarship offer letter – the chosen sponsoring organisation must receive the Letter of Undertaking with applicant’s signature by the stated deadline.
The scholarship offer letter informs applicants of the scholarship scheme that he or she has been offered, the sponsoring organisation, the course(s) of study that the sponsoring organisation is willing to support, the university that the scholarship is tenable for and some basic terms and conditions.
Successful applicants need to sign a Letter of Undertaking which is attached to the scholarship offer letter and return the Letter of Undertaking to the sponsoring organisation by the stated deadline as acknowledgement and acceptance of the terms and conditions of the scholarship offer.
The deadline for submitting the acceptance of offer will be indicated in the scholarship offer letter – your chosen sponsoring organisation must receive the Letter of Undertaking with your signature by the stated deadline.
If applicants submit more than one signed copy of the Letter of Undertaking, applicants will be liable to pay a $1,000 penalty to the sponsoring organisation(s) involved. The sponsoring organisation(s) will also reserve the right to retract their offers.
In the event that the successful applicant chooses not to take up the scholarship after submitting the Letter of Undertaking, the applicant will be liable to pay a $1,000 penalty to the sponsoring organisation.
