Secondary 1 (S1): Submit school choices

2. Does my child need to participate?

Even if your child has applied directly to a secondary school, or is planning to do so, they may still need to participate in the S1 posting process. You can refer to the different scenarios:

Your child has applied to a school through the DSA-Sec process and is unsuccessful

Your child must participate in the S1 posting process.

Your child has applied to a school through the DSA-Sec process and is successful

Your child does not need to participate in the S1 posting process. However, you may participate if:

  • Your child is eligible for more than one course.
  • Your child is eligible for and wishes to attend a Third Language programme.
Your child has accepted an offer from Singapore Sports School (SSP)

Your child must participate in the S1 posting process. You may then transfer your child to SSP after the S1 posting results are released. This is to ensure your child can return to their posted school if they subsequently need to leave SSP.

Your child is applying directly to Crest Secondary School and Spectra Secondary School, which are Specialised Schools for Normal (Technical) students (SSNT)

Your child must participate in the S1 posting process to ensure that they are posted to a secondary school in case their SSNT application is unsuccessful.

If your child’s application is successful, you will be informed by the respective SSNT.
