Secondary 1 (S1): submit school choices

2. Does my child need to participate?

Even if your child has applied directly to a secondary school, or is planning to do so, they may still need to participate in the S1 posting process. This include students who:

  • Have participated in the Direct School Admission (DSA-Sec) process.
  • Have been admitted to Singapore Sports School.
  • Are applying to a specialised school for Normal (Technical) students.

Refer to the following table to see if your child still needs to submit their school choices:

Your child applied to a school through the DSA-Sec process, and was rejected.

Your child must participate in the S1 posting process.

Your child applied to a school through the DSA-Sec process, and was accepted.

Your child does not need to participate in the S1 posting process. However, you may participate if:

  • Your child is eligible for more than one course.
  • Your child is eligible for and wishes to attend a third language programme.

Your child has accepted an offer from Singapore Sports School (SSP).

Your child must participate in the S1 posting process. You may then transfer your child to SSP after the S1 posting results are released. This is to ensure your child can return to their posted school if they subsequently need to leave SSP.

Your child is applying directly to a specialised school for Normal (Technical) students (SSNT), i.e. Spectra Secondary School and Crest Secondary School.

Your child must participate in the S1 posting process. This is to ensure they are posted to a secondary school in case their SSNT application is not successful. You will receive a letter and SMS if your SSNT application is successful.
