What are CCA?
CCA are a key component of students’ holistic education. Through CCA, students discover their interests and talents. Through CCA, students develop their character, learn values, social emotional competencies and skills to prepare them for future challenges.
CCA bring students from diverse backgrounds together. By learning and interacting with one another, students develop friendships and deepen their sense of belonging to the school and community.
CCA is strongly encouraged at the primary and post-secondary level. However, CCA is compulsory for all secondary school students. Students can choose from any of these 4 categories:
- Clubs and societies
- Physical sports
- Uniformed groups
- Visual and performing arts
Students may also start their own activities with the school’s approval. This allows them to pursue interests or ideas not found in current CCA, and expand the range of activities in their school.
If you’re a coach or instructor looking to offer CCA and enrichment activities to schools, you must be registered with MOE to be engaged by them. Learn about the registration requirements and how to register.
