MOE Pre-University Scholarship

Scholarships of up to $2,400 per year are offered to top-performing Pre-University 1 students.

This scholarship is offered to top Pre-University 1 students who have achieved outstanding academic results and excelled in co-curricular and other activities.

It is awarded for 2 years. The award covers an allowance of $750 and school fees based on Singapore Citizen's rates less any subsidies, subject to an annual cap of $2,400 per year, as long as the student meets the renewal criteria.

Who is eligible

Singapore Citizens, or non-Citizens with at least 1 parent who is a Singapore Citizen, who:

  • Have done consistently well in school and obtained an aggregate score of 8 points or less in their GCE O-Level examinations for English and Higher Mother Tongue, or Mother Tongue and 5 relevant subjects as in the Pre-University admission criteria, or equivalent based on the school's internal assessment.
  • Have good co-curricular activities record.
  • Have good conduct record.

Additional requirements

Scholarship recipients must not be concurrent recipients of any other MOE scholarships except the Edusave Scholarships for Independent Schools (ESIS).

How to apply

For IP students:

Application for 2021 starts on Friday, 16 October and ends on Monday, 16 November 2020. No offline applications will be accepted after application period ends.

To apply, log in to the application system using your SingPass. Logging in using other people's SingPass is not allowed and will render your application void.

You can apply for a SingPass account with 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) through the SingPass homepage. Upon successful registration, your SingPass will be mailed to your registered address within 4 working days. For immediate application of SingPass, you may visit the nearest SingPass designated counter. This option is recommended if you are applying for the scholarship within the last week of the application cycle. Find details of the SingPass application process.

You can refer to this guide when completing your online application. You need to submit an essay of 500-600 words to describe yourself (such as your key interests, motivations, aspirations) and your reasons for applying for this scholarship in your online application.

Note: Application for all other students will start in January 2021 after the official release of the O-Level examination results.

Selection for interview

If you are in the Integrated Programme, your school will nominate you for the scholarship selection interview which commences in early March.

If you are not in the Integrated Programme, you will be invited for the scholarship selection interview based on your GCE O-Level examination results. Interviews commence in early April.

Announcement of results

Successful candidates will be notified in August.
